Automatic Folding Door In New Council Offices

Automatic Folding Door Solution for Local Authority Public Space
Ace Door Systems was recently appointed by a local council to provide expert guidance and a suitable entrance solution for a newly developed public space. The project required a door system that would offer safe, efficient access for a diverse mix of users, including families, the elderly, wheelchair and mobility aid users, and high volumes of foot traffic during busy periods. Initially, another supplier had recommended traditional aluminium swing doors. However, following a full site assessment and consultation, Ace Door Systems advised that swing doors would not deliver the necessary accessibility, operational efficiency or safety required for this type of environment.
Instead, we recommended the installation of the Record Automatic Folding Door System. Folding doors are particularly effective in locations where space is limited or where there is insufficient clearance for standard swing or sliding doors. Their compact folding action provides a wider clear opening within the same structural width, allowing people to pass through quickly and safely without obstruction. This makes them far more suitable for public spaces where smooth flow and inclusive access are priorities.
The automatic folding system opens faster than manual swing doors, reduces congestion and improves user experience, especially during peak times. In addition, advanced safety sensors ensure the doors detect movement and respond instantly, making them safer and more user friendly for individuals who may struggle with heavy manual doors.
Our engineering team provided a full installation service, including removal of pre-existing door hardware, installation of the new automated system, commissioning and operational training for onsite staff. The work was completed efficiently with minimal disruption to the wider construction programme.
The council was extremely satisfied with the outcome, noting a significant improvement in accessibility, traffic flow and overall usability of the space. The new door system has proven reliable, energy efficient and well suited to the demands of a busy public facility.
