Post Office Folding Door Installation

Record Automatic Folding Door Installation at Post Office Branch

Ace Door Systems recently completed the installation of a Record automatic folding door system at a busy Post Office branch, replacing an ageing and unreliable aluminium swing door arrangement which was beginning to cause operational issues, accessibility challenges and increased maintenance costs. Due to high daily footfall and the essential nature of postal services, it was critical that the upgrade was completed quickly and with minimal disruption to trading.

Our team removed the existing manual swing doors and retrofitted the new folding door system directly into the existing structural opening. Careful planning and pre-measurement allowed the installation to be completed efficiently within a single afternoon, eliminating the need for extended closures or complicated structural works. This ensured the Post Office was able to remain fully operational throughout, maintaining customer access and avoiding revenue loss.

The new Record folding door provides a wider clear opening compared to the original swing doors, significantly improving accessibility for wheelchair users, pushchairs, customers carrying parcels and those with reduced mobility. Automatic opening functionality also enhances overall flow at peak periods and supports improved safety by preventing congestion and door leaf obstruction.

Folding doors are an ideal solution for restricted entrance spaces where traditional sliding systems cannot be accommodated. Their compact motion profile works perfectly in tight environments such as high-street retail units, convenience stores, Post Offices, small supermarkets and public buildings.

In addition to functionality improvements, the new system offers enhanced energy efficiency by reducing heat loss associated with inefficient manual doors. Low-maintenance drive units and modern safety sensors ensure reliable long-term performance and full compliance with EN16005 regulations.
